The music of Guarda (personal project of Joel Rico Rada, also on Mejor sordo) is a beautiful statement of intent that applies to the seams of intimacy.
With a string of singles and two EPs dating back to 2020 and 2023, Guarda’s debut full-length came in 2024 under the title «La piedra de la locura». An album where this electronic musician of Basque origin based in Zaragoza unfolds a sort of sonic itinerary that invites us to reflect on credulity, the loss of faith and death.
The sections that make up the album (rather than songs themselves) are radically differentiated and range from the recitation of close friends to oratory gurus whose voices have been filtered, sampled or synthesised, with the intention of revealing their sectarian practices.
