With countless hours of stage experience and a fabulous debut album released in 2021, Veta is a band formed by two veterans of the alternative scene, Ana Galletero (Travolta) and Carlos Toronado (PAL). Now, from the heights of the Madrid mountains, the duo performs a kind of electronic music with post-punk, minimalist and kraut DNA, which is as political as it is poetic.
Using organs, synthesizers, loops and drum machines, Veta create a crisp, danceable musical muscle, over which they insightfully throw their words. Voice and aesthetic assault confront us with the effects of the neoliberal and dystopian shredder in which we live.
If in geology the term ‘vein’ refers to the filling of fissures in the ground with a valuable mineral formed by the forces of nature, i.e. pressure and the passage of time (years for a single millimetre), Veta’s music refers to the Anthropocene era and the complete collapse of our civilisation, but it does so by unfolding an ode to us. An invitation to share in the hope of transcending the hypnosis and suffocation of the individualistic vicious circle in which we find ourselves, to see if collectively we can pull the brake on the automated administration of our behaviour.
