With two albums released, «Trapezoide» in 2019 and «Nuevo orden mágico» in 2022, as well as multiple concerts around Spain and Europe behind them, Espiricom are now back with their third studio album, called «Selección sobrenatural». An album that invites us to reflect on the dead end to which centuries of material progress have led us and a long live the chains that ascribe us to decadence. Now the time has come to take sides, and it is not just a political or social question, it is a philosophical urgency that implies taking the next evolutionary step towards a human being with full individual and collective consciousness, without which there is no future, because humanity will either be ethical or it will not be.

Recorded by the band themselves in their rehearsal room, the trio currently formed by Alfonso Alfonso (Artificiero, Nepal napalm, Schwarz), José Luis López (Builthenburnt, Crudo pimiento, Nepal napalm) and Julián Egea (Volga) seems to be guided by a sort of maxim around more is more, with which they manage to masterfully reconcile the extremes of that electronic rock that makes them so particular. Thanks to this, now in «Selección sobrenatural» we can taste new formal edges never explored before, as well as a greater and more organic forcefulness in the execution. There is more psychedelia, yes, but also more bone and earth.

The album begins with «Miedo al miedo», a wake-up call against inoculated fear, to the sound of percussions and bells that intertwine their pulses among the dense rock beats. It is followed by «Las arenas largas», a song inspired by Vicente Aleixandre’s idea of finitude, which here refers to the desert landscape of the south-east of Murcia, where the band comes from. Then, to the rhythm of hammering hammers, in «Ácido rojo sangre» we celebrate before our doppelgänger that the person is not an island. And again, another poetic reference: in this case, Gabriel Celaya’s verses sharpen one of the most industrial, evocative and intimidating songs on the album, «Se mueven». After it, we are swept away by the frenzy of «Queda el ruido», before arriving at «Enciendo el fuego en el bosque del mono». An explicitly tribal theme that prepares us and leads us, now, to the hypnotic denouement of «Káfir», where they lay the foundations of their self-described, with irony and conviction, electrostoner.
