Elle Belga

Upcoming shows

Sensitivity, talent and a huge poetic concision place Elle Belga in a musical space of its own. With them own language and a body of work that already spans five albums, a soundtrack, several singles and them latest epé, ‘Lagunak’ from 2022, released on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the emblematic self-managed house of Tolosa, Bonberenea.

Since the beginning of their career in 2009, the verses of Fany Álvarez and José Luís García (Manta Ray, Viva las Vegas) have been unfolding an exciting and highly personal songbook, which is capable of deciphering the beauty of the universal in our everyday life and in whose lines the best European song of the 20th century goes hand in hand with beautifully fragile and unclassifiable slowcore forms. Composing and working always with the humility of those who respect, appreciate and try to understand the history of the land they walk on… both in their discography and on stage, the duo shows an admirable permeability to the proletarian cultural heritage that challenges us -with its monumental historical weight and its influence on the lives of contemporary Asturias-. All of this is executed, moreover, with a harmonious restraint and interpretative precision that sharpens the lyrical and expressive power of his imagery.

Indispensable and influential referent of our scene, Elle Belga are the antithesis of revisionist folklore because, although they do indeed incorporate explicit elements of the popular, their music reconciles with both the traditional and the modern.
