The thirteen dates of the tour to present their debut, «Un camino corto», were not yet behind them, and the second album by Pena máxima was already a buzz in the heads of the brothers Julián and Pablo Campesino. By the time these two ex-members of Autumn Comets returned to La mina studios last March, the rumbling had already grown and grown and ended up overflowing in the recording sessions, together with Raúl Pérez. Outside, clouds and haze. Inside, their new songs, this second album by Pena máxima entitled «Crudo». New steps forward that, at the same time, also lead to an imaginary origin of the project.

Apart from the title of the album, the concept of crudeness has been a kind of mantra that has accompanied Julián and Pablo during the recording of these ten songs with four hands. Raw, rawer, rawer, even rawer… In this new studio work Pena máxima have reached the very core of their slowcore sensibility, the pure essence of that angular and distorted rock that, together with the particular magical realism of their lyrics, makes them a rarity in the national scene.

Along the way, they have not lost intensity, quite the contrary. Two examples: when «El monstruo final» reaches its climax or when «Cruces blancas» grows and explodes three times, it seems incredible that there are only two musicians behind it. In the cathartic «Flores al entierro», they are joined by the Canarian singer-songwriter Fajardo on backing vocals, anticipating what will be a new collective climax in their next concerts. ‘Crudo’ is the marrow of Pena Máxima… and it has a lot of substance.
