Segments of brutal beauty, which transmit an exquisite sensitivity for soundscape and industrial electronic music
Half a year after the release of ‘Ateretlov’, Tzesne returns again with this brand new album, called ‘Segmentos’, in which we find six sound sheets that have been composed from residual matter, whose texture has been altered and made to resonate.
Although the origins of this insatiable explorer of the Basque experimental scene start from the rotundity of the industrial, during the last two decades and with twelve albums behind him, a trilogy with N (Hellmut Neidhart) and an incessant trail of collaborations published on labels such as Abgurd, Drone, TIBProd, Mystery Sea, Eclectic Reactions or his own label (SeriesNegras), Txesus Garate has become a reference in ambient and contemporary noise music, as well as in activism and audiovisual manipulation (with Paralux). All this, thanks to simple approaches, based on concise compositions -although multiform- that result in a suggestive, dreamlike and radically conceptual musical body, always safe from musical conventionalisms, like the one that now takes shape in ‘Segmentos’.
After an initial study and experimentation capturing directed and sui generis use of residual gadgets and prepared artifacts, Tzesne has extracted, molded and composed the six musical segments included in this album. Segments of brutal beauty, which transmit an exquisite sensitivity for soundscape and industrial electronic music. From the inside out. With the interior exposed and leaving to discover the veins through which our listening will pass, we go through the segments as in a journey whose path has been drawn from a single note. A note that will turn into several ones, occasionally and successively, until it distorts its own nature and amalgamates with others, forming textures and memorable moments. Segments with melody and congenital rhythm that Tzesne frees from moorings, alters and shapes, generating new timbre textures as well as, at times, raw and monolithic harmony. Good trip.
